Black-stained larch on the façade, fence and garden house frame the small garden in the middle of the big city of London. The monochrome design creates space for a young family and their colourful art collection.
The client wanted to open up the ground floor and increase the living space. The height of extensions to neighbours is limited in London. We lowered the extension to create a generous room height for the new kitchen-diner. The room gets a lot of light through the glass roof above the dining table. The door to the garden was integrated into the frameless glass corner, with a window to close off the worktop for ventilation.
The extension as well as the interior fittings are made of a monochromatic palette of materials and colours and are intended to serve as a backdrop for the colourful and eclectic mix of furniture and art created by the client. The upper floors have also been completely renovated and modernised.
